A story is a photo or a short video that disappears by itself after 24 hours.

Stories are available on nicagram.

How they work

• You post one from the stories row at the top of the home timeline.
• It is shown to the people who follow you, for 24 hours, and is then deleted.
• Stories do not appear on your profile, on the public timelines, on hashtag pages or in search.
• You can see who has viewed yours while it is still live.

Stories and other servers

Stories are not part of the core fediverse protocol. Software that knows about them shows them; software that does not simply will not, so some of your followers may never see one. If it matters that everybody sees it, make it a post.

They expire, they are not secret

Expiry deletes the story from this server. It does not delete a screenshot, a recording, or a copy another server made while the story was live. Treat a story as a post that tidies up after itself, not as a private message — for that, use a direct message.
