Send and receive direct messages with other profiles.
How do I use direct messages?
A direct message goes to the accounts you address it to and to nobody else. You can send photos or videos you upload, posts you have seen in a timeline, profiles, plain text, hashtags and locations.
Your conversations are at /account/direct. You can manage what you have sent and received from there.
Photos and videos sent as a direct message are not shared onward to other sites and do not appear on hashtag or location pages.
How do I unsend a message I have sent?
Open the message and choose Delete.
Can I message people I am not following?
Yes. It may land in their filtered inbox rather than in front of them, so do not assume it has been read.
How do I report something I have received in a message?
Open the message, choose Report, and follow the instructions on the report page. See report something.
