Parental controls

Parental controls let a parent create and oversee a child's account, linked to their own.

What a parent controls

• Account creation — the child's account is created from yours and stays linked to it.
• Posting — whether the child can post at all.
• Comments — whether the child can comment on other people's posts.
• Likes and shares — whether the child can like and share.
• Federation — whether the child's account is visible outside this server at all. Turning it off keeps everything local, which is the strongest limit available.

Parental controls are turned off on nicagram. The rest of this page describes what the feature does where it is enabled.

These are controls on one account, not a content filter on the whole service. Nothing here stops a child from seeing a public post on another server, and no software setting replaces knowing what your child is doing.
